Find out what vitamins to take to get glowing – inside and out!
The Vitamins I Take
One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to get my gut health to a better place. I’ve made A LOT of progress in the last 2-3 months and I wanted to share what vitamins I’ve been taking to help make that a success.
I have tried many different vitamins over the years, everything from Flinstone’s Chewables to whole food derived ones. But, the vitamins that I am currently taking are BY FAR the most effective vitamins I’ve tried, point.blank.period.
BTW this is NOT sponsored. I just like to share anytime I find something really good.
I was introduced to this range of vitamins by my dermatologist. ProCapLabs by Dr. Andrew Lessman. You won’t find these in stores, you have to buy them direct from his website.
Even though I eat whole foods and very little processed foods, my derm was explaining that today’s tomato, for example, has tremendously less vitamins and minerals than that same tomato growing on the same plot of land 50, even 20 years ago. Our soil is losing its nutrients. Therefore, what we think is a diet rich in vitamins and minerals is actually only a fraction of what we thought.
The amount of food we would have to eat to meet the daily nutrient requirements is nearly impossible in today’s age.
My Celiac already makes it difficult for my body to absorb certain vitamins and minerals, so I am naturally a good candidate for vitamin supplementation.
That being said, every one is different and it is important for you to consult a medical professional if you are considering taking any supplements.
What I Take
Like I said earlier, my first concern was to bring my gut health back to a better place. After years of avoiding things that would inflame my gut, like gluten and dairy, I was putting all the focus on keeping the bad out. I neglected to put any attention on adding more good in.
To boost the vitamins I am taking, I have also been focusing on eating certain fermented foods, specifically sauerkraut, to build up the good bacteria levels.
Friendly Flora (Probiotics) + Digest Assure (Digestive Enzymes)
These two vitamins pack a one-two punch to get my good bacteria back to optimum levels. I take one of each after M1.
The Probiotic contains multiple strains of probiotics, which are the beneficial microorganisms that live in your GI tract and are vital to overall health. Other foods that contain probiotics include yogurt.
The Digestive Assure is an enzyme complex that helps support and enhance the body’s natural digestive process. Other foods that contain digestive enzymes include pineapples and papayas.
Maximum Essential Omega-3s
Omega-3s contain a blend of DHA, EPA, DPA, and ALA. This group of vitamins can not be made by the body, our bodies have to obtain it from our diet or supplements. Diets rich in omega-3s are associated with strong heart, brain, circulatory and general health. Other foods that contain omega-3s include cold water fish and flaxseed. I take one after M1.
Healthy Hair, Skin, Nails
Did you ever stop to think that our hair, skin and nails never stop growing?? Even when we are old?? These tissues require an insatiable amount of nutrients to be at their best! This supplement provides more than a dozen nutrients to ensure you have the necessities inside to have the most beautiful hair, skin and nails on the outside. I take one after M1 and have been working up to take another one after M5, which reminds me I should go take one right now as I’m writing this post!
Multivitamin – Women’s Complete
This vitamin delivers more than thirty nutrients, including all essential vitamins, minerals and carotenoids. It is actually really strong and I can only take about 1/3 of the recommended dosage right now.
Seems pretty basic, but I used to not take a multi. I always figured that I ate whole foods, I should be getting enough from my diet…
Well, I began to look at things like my fingernails and other outwardly tells of my nutritional intake. You could of course get a nutrient breakdown from some sort of blood work, but I saw enough signs to forgo any more testing.
These are by far the most effective vitamins I have tried!!! It took about a month for my body to get used to the higher levels of vitamins and minerals, but I am so glad I was patient and conservative in introducing these into my routine. Everything has improved!
I strongly encourage you to do your research before starting any vitamin supplementation. Consult with your doctor before starting supplementation.
I would not recommend products, recipes, or workouts that I haven’t personal tried and can vouch for.
Would love to hear what you think about the world of vitamins! I love learning something new!!
